Arequipa to promote Peruvian cuisine with National Flavor Day

Rocoto fillerMore than 50 Peruvian dishes will participate on November 15 in the National Flavor Day, a contest organized by the regional government of Arequipa in order to promote in this city the consumption of the country’s exquisite dishes.

Representatives from eleven departments, including Ica, Piura, Lambayeque, Cusco, Moquegua, Tacna, Madre de Dios, Ayacucho, Puno, Apurimac and Junin, have confirmed their attendance to this second version of the National Flavor Day, said activity’s coordinator Jesus Fuentes.

Arequipa’s provinces have also confirmed their participation with the assistance of their outstanding cooks, who will prepare the traditional dishes of the area, many of whom are not longer prepared in restaurants, he noted.

On behalf of the Arequipa province, Fuentes said, the picantería of the traditional and non-traditional district have confirmed their participation in the National Flavor Day.

The organizers of the National Flavor Day expect to receive, at least 8,000 people, a figure that would exceed by 100% of the attendees of the event’s first version.

Among the dishes exhibiting in this event will be the Rocoto Relleno, Cuy chactado, Adobo and other typical dishes from Arequipa.
